Cape Fear: A Masterful Thriller

Running Time: 128 min.

COUNSELUH? OH COUNSELUH? These are the words that send a chill down both Nick Nolte's and your spine as the sick and twisted Max Cady basically destroys your sanity and make all your wildest fears come true. The story begins with Max Cady (Robert De Niro) working out in his jail cell and is finally released after 14 long years. As he walks away from the prison and appraoches the camera you can feel his dark piercing eyes glaring through your soul. Throughout the movie, Cady tourtures the family of counselor Sam Bowden (Nick Nolte) in some of the most psychotic ways possible. I won't tell you what he did because that's what makes the movie. Just seeing Cady go absolutely insane is something of wonder because throughout most of the movie he seems like a simple southern gentleman. Nick Nolte does a very good job in this film and made me love him and at times hate him. The one man that steals the show was the fantastic and legendary Robert De Niro. De Niro sends chills down your spine and just makes you feel fear like no other person on this planet. Also, Martin Scorsese deserves major props for making a remake that's better than the original. In Fact, Scorsese brought back both the original Sam Bowden (Gregory Peck) and Max Cady (Robert Mitchum) to have minor roles in the film. Granted some of the characters feel slightly underdeveloped and they might get on your nerves. Overall, if you want a movie a movie that will scare the heck out of you this is definetly the one to watch.

Rating: 4.5/5
